ABSTRACT

Internal Security of India is having many challenges. These challenges are complicated and immense. Act of internal security is to keep peace and law maintenance within the country and also to protect its citizens from the threats. Keeping internal security in a country starts with the police, army and ends with the citizen of the nation. It is the responsibility of all to maintain law and order of the nation. To maintain the internal security of the nation is not an easy task because of the threats like: drugs trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir issues, cyber crimes etc. At another level the problem of internal security is presented in the form of extra regional intervention that takes shape in the form of political, economic, socio- economic or military intervention.

One of the major mandates of the federal government is to ensure the security of the nation. Sometimes a threat to internal security in a country comes from caste, religion which led to disturbance in the nation and it further develop in the form of violence, armed rebellion. Government should always be ready and have planned internal security to tackle all the problems along with the protection of its citizens. Responsibility to maintain it lies with companies starting from police to paramilitary forces, and in demanding circumstances, the navy itself.

Sometimes a situation arises where the relation between two nation become disturbed then government should have all the measures to keep internal security of India. The Constitution Of India also provide the Article in case of emergency and to keep law maintenance in the country. Main threat to internal security comes from violence, organized or individual and violation of laws.
